I'm sorry but my list is currently full and I'm not able to take on new clients.
Face-to-face counselling offers a particular quality of engagement between counsellor and client that many clients find enhances the work they do with their counsellor. It's not always possible or appropriate for face-to-face work to take place, in which case physically distanced counselling (by video or phone call) can be very powerful too. A particular benefit of physically distanced counselling is that no matter where you are, counselling is available to you. If you'd like to know more about how in-person and physically distanced counselling work, or about anything else you read here, you can reach me by phone, text message or email.
Since you're visiting this site it's likely that you or someone you care about is feeling distressed, overwhelmed or even hopeless, and you're searching for support. Perhaps you already know about the particular type of help a counsellor can provide and the sorts of change that counselling can help foster - you might perhaps know that there are many different reasons for people deciding to try counselling, and you might have some idea about what happens during a therapy session. But if counselling is new for you and you'd like to find out more, having chosen to visit this site was a good way to start.
Why do people choose counselling?
People who make the choice to work with a counsellor sometimes have specific issues they'd like to address. But many are 'just' feeling uneasy, experiencing anything from an indistinct but persistent feeling that something in life is out of alignment, right through to deep-seated and debilitating distress.
Clients have chosen to work with me for many different reasons:
Person-Centered Counselling is a well established and regarded form of talking therapy and as a Person-Centred counsellor, I'm passionately committed to offering my clients understanding within a genuine, non-judgmental and confidential relationship in a physically and emotionally safe place. Clients sometimes work with me on an open-ended basis, and sometimes for an agreed number of sessions, but clients are always in total control of the direction and duration of their therapy.
I practice in Alloway, close to the A77 Prestwick/Ayr By-Pass. This makes it particularly easy for me to be reached by people living in Troon, Prestwick, Ayr, Alloway, Coylton, Dalrymple, Maybole, Maidens, Turnberry, Girvan, Ballantrae and Stranraer. and I hope to resume in-person counselling sessions again once Covid-19 emergency restrictions are lifted. Your location is not a barrier to us working together, however, as I also offer physically distanced counselling by voice-only and video call too.
You're warmly invited to browse this website, and to phone , text or email if you would like to take the next step and begin to explore whether a counselling relationship with me might feel right for you.
